STATE DEVELOPMENT PLAN

Ondo State Government has initiated the process for the delivery of a 30-year Long-Term Development Plan (Ondo 2054) that would guarantee sustainable growth and development through developmental governance for an improved human capital development, security, and overall prosperity to the good people of Ondo State.

Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, CON, has approved the crafting of the Ondo 2054 Long-Term Plan as well as the constitution of a Steering Committee to drive the process. The Chairman of the Steering Committee and Honourable State Commissioner for Economic Planning & Budget would lead others to formulate policies that would effectively harness all state’s potential and available resources and strategize on how best to allocate our common patrimony in order to bring the desired welfare to the people of the State. This would be carried out with technical support from a consulting firm and three Public Sector Management Consultants. The Plan is proposed to be built upon 4 Pillars viz.

1. Prosperous Economy
2. Human Capital Development
3. Infrastructure & Environment
4. Administration

Open Governance, Partnership and Social Inclusion would be cross-cutting and would be the bedrock of the Pillars. There are 30 proposed Thematic Areas that stem out from the Pillars.

In line with the principle of Sustainable Development of leaving no one behind, a tour of all districts in the State to meet the people for their inputs into the Plan had earlier been carried out with the assistance of the UNDP through the OSSAP-SDGs while carrying out the Needs Assessment of the State. The People of Ondo State, from all walks of life, would own the Plan by actively involving them in all the processes that would birth the Plan.
