Ondo Govt inaugurates committee on 30-year Development Plan

Ondo State Government on Monday inaugurated the technical committee for the design of a long-term 30-year development plan tagged “Ondo 2054”.

Ondo State Acting Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, while inaugurating the committee in Akure, charged the committee to come up with recommendations that would bring infrastructure and human capital development to the state.

Aiyedatiwa said it was in tandem with Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu’s REDEEMED agenda to engineer an inclusive and sustainable development plan for the state.

The acting governor said the inauguration of the technical committee was a sign of government’s commitment to implement the fiscal responsibility law to make the state a hub for investors, devoid of any political inclination.

While charging members of the committee to brace up and bring their experience to bear, Aiyedatiwa said the committee had six months to complete and deliver the development plan.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Pastor Emmanuel Igbasan, said the Ondo 2054 Agenda became necessary considering the fact that Ondo State population would be 12.7 million by 2024.

“This calls for future projection on infrastructure and human capital development,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the technical committee comprises permanent secretaries of ministries, directors, general managers and consultants, to drive the strategic plan to reality.
