UNITED NATIONS CHILDREN’S FUND (UNICEF)

      Over the years, Ondo State has been supporting the implementation of Donor supported programmes to complement the State Government’s effort at alleviating poverty, improving the living standard of the people, building peace, providing security and ensuring a life of dignity to of its citizens. These Donor Partners such as World Bank, UNICEF, European Union, UNDP, UNESCO, Alive and Thrive, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation etc have partnered with the State in various sectors such as Health, Education, Infrastructure, Sanitation, Governance and Nutrition to achieve the attainment of national and international Goals of the United Nations.

      Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget as the coordinating Ministry for Donor Interventions in the State has been collaborating with UNICEF to improve the living conditions of Children and Women in the areas of Health, Nutrition, Education, Social Policy, Water, Hygiene and Sanitation (WASH) and Communication for Development. Similarly, the European Union has supported the construction of Micro Projects facilities in the State through the Micro Project Programmes (MPP 6 & 9) and the Niger Delta Support Programme, Component 4 (NDSP4). The World Bank has supported in Governance reforms, Youth empowerment, Agricultural Development, Health, Rural Accessibility etc

        The following activities and achievements were recorded as a result of collaboration between the Ministry and UNICEF is the year 2019;

  1. Printing of the State Social Protection Law

  2. Capacity Building of members of the State Committee on Food and Nutrition (SCFN)

  3. Inauguration and sensitization of Local Government Committee on Food and Nutrition (LGCF&N)

  4. Conduct of Symposium on Exclusive Breastfeeding for motorbike riders in the State

  5. Conduct of End year review meeting of all UNICEF supported Programme in the States under UNICEF Akure Field office.

  6. Quarterly meetings of Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC) and State Committee on Food and Nutrition (SCFN)

  7. Monitoring / Assessment of UNICEF supported programmes across the State
