Ondo State Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Pastor Emmanuel Igbasan has expressed the commitment of the present administration in the State to develop the state with a view to making life worth living for the people.
Pastor Igbasan made this known while playing host to the District Governor, Rotary International District 9125, Dr. Victor Onukwgha and some officials of the club, who paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Akure.
He noted that the state has continue to witness monumental developmental projects since the inception of Governor Akeredolu administration particularly in the areas of road construction, rehabilitation of schools, delivery of quality health care to the people among others.
On the issue of open defecation which he said has been responsible for infectious diseases and other health challenges in the state, the Commissioner stated that government has taken step to eradicate the menace by 2023.
Pastor Igbasan, who was also inducted as a member of the club, called on Rotary Club International to partner with the State Government to actualise its developmental programmes aimed at improving the economic well-being of the people. He appreciated the club for honoring him as a member of the club, promising to represent the club well with humility and integrity.
Earlier, District Governor, Rotary International District 9125, Dr. Victor Onukwugha, stated that Rotary International has brought together global network of volunteer leaders who dedicate their time and talents to tackle most pressing humanitarian challenges in the world.
Dr Onukwugha noted that Rotary club connected millions of members from more than 300 Countries to impact lives at both the local, national and international levels, describing its membership drive as an important activity through dedication of their time and resources to solve problems in the various communities.
Rotarian Onukwgha highlighted the area of focus of the club which include, community services, such as water provision, sanitation, economic development, child and maternal health care, conflict resolution, education and literacy development among others.
The Commissioner and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Bunmi Alade, who was also inducted as a member of the club were charged to be good ambassadors of the club and work with other members all over the world to realize its vision.
